Great oaks from little acorns grow. A well known quotation from maybe the eighteenth century but it could easily have been intended for us at Faversham Strike Force.
The club formed in 1999 and it has been my great privilege to be Chairman for most of this period.
During this period we have seen the club grow and develop to it having become one of the most respected Youth Football Clubs both in the County and indeed further afield. We have a constant membership of 200 young people in all ages from 6 to 17 and with teams operating in the various leagues and friendly leagues we are able to offer both competitive and social football to all young people with any level of skill or ability.
We offer this in a safe; friendly and well managed as well as safe environment.
Our development has seen us move from a Sunday kick about group to a substantial club which has achieved the converted FA Charter Standard Community Club award.
Our further achievements have included being awarded County, Regional and National FA Charter Standard Club of the year awards.
Our continuous training programme has seen several of our team managers being awarded Manager of the year awards from their respective leagues.
Our annual tournament which has now become one of the best tournaments in Kent during which over a whole weekend we act as hosts to almost 1000 young players as well as 1000 spectators and we are now attracting teams from well outside the boundaries of East Kent.
Faversham Strike Force has now become more than just a youth Football Club. We have now become part of the very fabric of the town and we contribute to the local community by supporting a very worthwhile local charity where so far we have made donations of almost £3000 and for several years we have run the Faversham Schools annual Football Tournament.
Through our close relationships with Faversham Town FC we have become a feeder club once our own members reach the age of 17 and many of our ex players are playing for the Town teams.
We also have a number of boys who have been given places at the schools of excellence of top league clubs.
My role is to provide support to our Club Manager (Gary) and his team of managers in terms of sound financial management and direct support for the many sub activities undertaken by the club, and to this extent I am supported by a very strong and enthusiastic General Management Committee.
We have grown now into a very successful Youth Football Club. Long may it continue to grow and develop for the benefit of all young people, both boys and girls from the town and surrounding areas.
Thank you for your time and commitment to ensure and may those oak trees grow and flourish to become even greater.
